DTN COMMENTS:   The country is quiet this afternoon with bids and asking 
prices yet to be established, and significant trade volume will likely be 
delayed until the second half of the week. New showlists appear to be mixed, 
higher in Texas and Kansas, but lower in Nebraska/Colorado. 

Today's slaughter totaled 121,000 head, 11,000 greater than last week, and 
2,000 more than a year ago. Live cattle futures closed moderately to mostly 
sharply higher, up 32 to 112, while feeder issues ended the day sharply 
higher, up 90 to 317. Beef cutouts are expected to close higher with light to 
moderate box movement.
